2012 Visual Art Competition

CATEGORIES - Click HERE for entry form.
(limit of 3 entries per category)

1.  Art from Nature - three-dimensional art from natural materials and resources
2.  Nature Photography - photos from various Vicksburg/Delta landscapes
3.  Drawings of Vicksburg and/or the Mississippi Delta - pencil or charcoal drawings of individuals, animals, plants, the river or architecture
4.  Paintings - watercolor, oil, or pastels painting of Vicksburg/Delta Landscape
5.  Sculpting - modeling clay or wood carvings of a signature Vicksburg person or landscape
6
.  Recycled Art - an art piece or reusable item using materials that would have otherwise been discarded
7.  Jewelry - made of natural stones and/or unique materials

Artwork Submissions can be delivered beginning Monday, July 2 until Monday, July 16 to the Southern Cultural Heritage Center. 
Each art submission must be properly titled and labeled. 

For judging, each category is divided by age (ages 6 and under; ages 7-12, ages 13-18; Adult)
1st (cash prize), 2nd and 3rd place awards will be issued for each age group for each category.

Judging will be based on: Use of materials, Creativity, Originality, Level of Effort

Judging will take place in the historic Southern Cultural Heritage Auditorium, on Thursday, July 19th with an open viewing and award ceremony from 6:30 – 7:30pm. 
Judges are Andy Young and Ron Lindsey.
All placed winners will be exhibited at the Hobbs Freeman Arts and Nature Festival on Saturday, November 3rd.    

Submit the following:
Application form completed and signed and  Art submission with label (title of art and name of artist) attached.
